The book “Gdańsk Silver Tankards of the 17th and 18th Centuries” is the second in a series of richly illustrated monographic albums published by the Royal Castle, following the first book entitled “The Porcelain and Faience Manufactory in Korzec”. The series is intended for art lovers, collectors, antique dealers, museums and auction houses.
The richly illustrated album “Gdańsk Silver Tankards of the 17th and 18th Centuries. Typology. Styles. Iconography" aims at providing a monographic presentation of silver tankards produced by the goldsmiths of Gdańsk in the 17th and 18th century. With their characteristic and typical style, Gdańsk tankards are an example of the most magnificent products produced from precious metals for secular purposes. They enjoyed over 150 years of uninterrupted popularity and hundreds of them have been preserved to this day.
